A Step in the Right Direction

Here is a partial answer to the idiotic question the liberal press always seems to ask, “do you think that this military action will achieve the goal of stopping the rocket fire from Gaza?” This press release from the IDF this morning!
Amir Mansi, the commander of the Hamas rocket launching program in the Gaza City area, was killed today (Saturday, 10.1.09) by IDF fire with assistance of the ISA. Mansi was also the leading Hamas authority with regard to the long range Grad missile launching program.
Amongst other activities Mansi directed and actively fired dozens of rockets at Israel, killing and wounding Israeli civilians. Mansi was spotted firing a rocket in the Jabel Rise area during a ground force operation today. The forces opened fire, killing Mansi and injuring two additional terror operatives.

First, I would like to say that I think that violence is something we, humans, should only resort to as a last measure.

Second, I would like to say that I empathise with the Israeli civilians - as well as with the state of Israel: living under the threat of being shelled is not acceptable. Resorting to violence to prevent further attacks on civilian population of Israel was necessary. Since the UN and the international community had failed to act, Israel had to take steps to protect its civilians. Therefore, the fault for the current violence falls primarily on to Hamas, secondarily on the UN and the international community which failed to enforce peace.

However, during all the rhetoric that is flying in all directions, I must admit I feel very sorry for the majority of the Palestinial civilian population... I was born and raised behind the Iron Curtain, so I understand that 'democratic' elections could bring to power those with the biggest guns and the smallest consciences.

Just consider what Hamas did when the Israeli forces were about to cross the border into Gaza: they 'visited' a number (OK, I have read accounts that are diverse, but, the smallest are in the hundreds)of Fatah members AND those considered to be 'community leaders' who did not have Hamas affiliations....the result of these visits?

These men were 'shot in the legs' - in other words, they were 'kneecapped'. Why? The reason given is very revealing: so they could not aid the 'Invading Israelis' against Hamas!!! Many died of their injuries.

Having lived in a militarily occupied country, this - to me - means only one thing: the majority of Palestinians in Gaza DO NOT SUPPORT HAMAS!!!! And, HAMAS KNOWS IT AND FEARS THEM!

Couple this with the large number of videos coming out of Gaza where people (young and old) whose family members were killed by Israeli fire put 100% of the blame for their loss on to Hamas!

If even the children are saying this, it means that Hamas is condemned by regular Palestinians - at least, when they do not think they will be overheard by strangers - so that this is common knowledge even among kids. The plight of these people truly touches me: they are the Palestinians who love their children more than they hate Israel....

Perhaps this is the first glimmer of hope in this terrible event.

I believe the appropriate term is "Boom! Headshot!"
